Volcano wrecks havoc in Indonesia as villagers flee ( photos)

Mount Sinabung violently erupted last weekend after two years of inactivity, leading to the evacuation of 7,500 residents from their village as their homes – some up to 15km away – were covered in ash. The total number of evacuees now stands at

10,714, say disaster relief officials, after several thousand people fled their homes at the start of the month when authorities raised the alert status of the volcano on Sumatra island. More than 10,000 villagers has already fled the
city.
