As Ekeukwu Owerri Goes Down, Nigerian Prisons, Police Headquarters, Red Cross Base In Owerri Next To Follow

Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas
Okorocha has insisted that the Nigerian
Police Headquarters located near the
Government House, and the Federal
Prison Services are to be relocated to port
Harcourt road Owerri.

He stated this during a recent inspection
tour of the State Capital.

According to the Governor, the Nigerian
Red Cross Society, Imo State Chapter also
located near the Government House along
Orlu Road has been given a new
Headquarters by Nworie Road, adjacent to
Emmanuel College Owerri.

He explained that the old building at Orlu
Road will no longer be used as its base,
stressing that the new buildings of these
Establishments would be completed
before January next year as the
Contractors have been mandated to work
round the clock.

The Governor emphasised that the
relocation became necessary to avert
Dangers that might occur as a result of any
Jail Break, adding that the Urban Renewal
Program being embarked upon in the City
is to decongest the State of any Traffic
Disturbances occasionally experienced.
