BREAKING: 13 UNILAG students detained for protesting rustication of blind student

13 students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have been remanded in Kirikiri. The students reportedly invaded the a television station protesting against the rustication of their colleagues. The Magistrate court has remanded them in Kirikiri following the charges filed against them.

On Saturday, April 1, 2017, the police charged 13 students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) before a Special Offences Mobile Court in Oshodi, Lagos, for what they called the “unlawful invasion” of TVC television station premises These are the names of the accused students: Femi Adeyeye, Toni Aina, Kodri Yaya, Asimi Oladime, Ismahim Olalekan, Segun Okesola, Abdulazeez Soneye, Idris Abogunloko, Muyiwa Olaniyi, Toheed Oladimeji, Joseph Akanni, Lukumon Olusegun, and Abiodun Agbeniyi.
The students were arraigned before Chief Magistrate P.E. Nwaka, on two counts of unlawful invasion and disruption of activities. Nwaka ordered that the students be remanded at Kirikiri Prison pending their bail application and the case was adjourned to April 6, for determination of their bail.
