Obasanjo reportedly shuns PDP secret meeting .

Reports reaching us has it that that former President Olusegun Obasanjo might have shunned a secret peace move by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and President Goodluck Jonathan.

It was gathered that as part of the President’s visit to Ogun State on Friday, Jonathan and the leadership of the PDP had planned to meet secretly with Obasanjo with a view to make peace.
The PDP said: “We agree with Lamido that we should not allow Obasanjo leave like that. We will do everything within our power to bring him back."

But according to Punch, the former president, who had got wind of the peace move, traveled to Gambia on Thursday.
Investigations revealed that Obasanjo would have been part of the closed-door meeting Jonathan had with some Ogun State traditional rulers on Friday, but for his absence from the country.
An aide of the former president, who pleaded anonymity because Obasanjo did not mandate him to speak on the issue, explained Baba’s main grouse with Jonathan.
He said that the major problem the former president had with Jonathan and the PDP was the promotion of a chieftain of the party, Mr. Buruji Kashamu.
“I can tell you authoritatively that Baba’s (Obasanjo) problem with the President and the PDP is the promotion of Kashamu,” he said.

The aide recalled that Obasanjo had in 2014 written a letter to the then PDP Chairman, Dr. Bamanga Tukur, and complained about Kashamu’s membership of the party.
In the letter dated 7 January, 2014, Obasanjo said he would, temporarily, cease to be a member of the party by withdrawing from its activities because Kahamu had been extolled as a party leader.
“I will consider withdrawing my activity with PDP at local, state, zonal and national levels until the anomalous and shameful situation is corrected,” he had said.
The aide said rather than address Obasanjo’s complaint, the PDP had appointed Kashamu the Chairman of its Mobilisation Committee in the South-West. Kashamu has also won the PDP senatorial ticket for Ogun-East Senatorial District.
The game got to its peak on Monday as Obasanjo dumped the PDP and directed the party Chairman in Ward 11, Abeokuta North, Mr. Usman Oladunjoye, to tear his membership card.

Kanye west goes on dinner date with Taylor Swift to discuss a possible collabo

After Kanye West ripped the microphone out of Taylor Swift's hands at the MTV Video Music Awards back in 2009, we never thought we'd see them get dinner together -- much less to discuss recording a song together!
Kanye and Taylor dined at the Spotted Pig in New York City on Tuesday evening, and both of the musicians were in a great mood after their meeting.
Earlier in the day Taylor appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon , and it seems like Kanye was sticking around in NYC just to meet with Taylor, as Kim Kardashian and Nori jetted back to Los Angeles the previous day. But back to the Yeezy and T. Swizzle collab! After the two were spotted chatting at the Grammys, the rapper revealed a few tidbits about their project during a recent interview at On Air With Ryan Seacrest . "Yeah, she wants to go into the studio and we're definitely going to go in," he said. "Any artist with an amazing point of view, perspective, fan base, I'm down to get in the studio and work. I don't
discriminate." Well, unless your name is Beck... Can't wait to learn more deets about this track!

Fleets of ISIS police hilux vehicles moving freely through the streets of Islamic rebels controlled provinces in Libya. Showing you how much they control Libya.
The video appears to show a fleet of Toyota Land Cruisers carrying the notorious black flag of Islamic State as they drive in perfect unison through the streets of Libya.
Men, women and children cheer and salute the pick-up trucks as they drive freely through what is believed to be the city of Benghazi. The carefully produced propaganda video was uploaded by terrorist group Ansar al-Sharia on February 5. The group declared city an 'Islamic emirate' in July 2014 before pledging allegiance to Islamic State just three months later. In November of that year, the UN blacklisted it as a terrorist organisation. The group was widely blamed for the death of US Ambassador Christopher Stephens in Benghazi in 2012. And only this week, it was linked to the bloody executions of 21 Egyptian Christians on a beach in Libya.
Fears of an equally brutal execution were raised following the news that 35 more Egyptians may have been kidnapped by Jihadists in the country. The latest abduction is thought to be a direct response to Egyptian airstrikes on extremist locations in the Libyan city of Derna, following the mass murder of their countrymen.

Total control: Flags and signposts featuring the black flag of Islamic State litter the city of Benghazi.
The internationally recognised government and parliament have since fled to Tobruk, near the Egyptian border.
ISIS exploited the gaps between the
democratically elected Libyan government in Torbruk and the Islamist-led General National Congress in the capital Tripoli.
Their joint failure to stop the spread of Islamic State has allowed the extremist group to seize control in a number of coastal cities including Nofaliya, Benghazi, Derna and Sirte - where the Coptic Christians were executed on Sunday. The caption alongside the five-minute documenting the murderous video read: 'The people of the cross, followers of the hostile Egyptian church.' Before the killings, one of the militants stood with a knife in his hand and said: 'Safety for you crusaders is something you can only wish for.' Egyptian warplanes struck Islamic State targets in Libya on Monday in swift retribution for the extremists' beheading of a group of Egyptian Christian hostages on a beach, shown in a grisly online video released hours earlier.

US pledges to assist Nigeria with equipment and intelligence to fight Boko Haram

The United States military will
provide communications equipment and intelligence to help African nations in the fight against Islamist group Boko Haram, the Commander of U.S. Special Forces Operations in Africa, said. Maj. Gen. James Linder said as part of the annual U.S.-backed 'Flintlock' counter-terrorism exercises this year in Chad, the United States would provide technology allowing African partners to communicate between cell phones, radios and computers. "The system also incorporates a translation function that would allow commanders in francophone countries like Chad to communicate by message with English-speaking officers in Nigeria.’’ Boko Haram killed an estimated 10 000 people last year in its campaign to carve an Islamist emirate from northern Nigeria.
The four nations of the Lake Chad region—Chad, Niger, Cameroon and Nigeria—plus neighboring Benin are preparing a joint task-force of 8 700 men to take on the Sunni jihadist group. Chad's military, which played a leading role in a French-led campaign that ousted Islamist groups from northern Mali in 2013, has already led attacks against Boko Haram positions in Nigeria's border regions. "The Lake Chad nations are battling Boko Haram and we have a vested interest in that group of nations' collective success.
"What Boko Harm is doing is a murderous rampage, about brutality, intolerance and subjugation.
"There is discussion on how will we provide additional tools, techniques, and material to partner with nations", Linder said in an interview
late on Monday at the Flintlock exercises, the U.S. military will also introduce a Cloud-based technology to allow African allies to quickly share intelligence, such as mapping information the location of potential targets, Linder said.
The ninth edition of Flintlock, grouping 1 300 soldiers from 28 African and Western nations, will emphasise the importance of troops fostering strong relations with local communities to gain intelligence on insurgent groups.
Linder said African armies were well-placed to gather this kind of information, but that the United States could share other kinds of intelligence to boost the success of operations against Boko Haram.

Obasanjo kicked out of PDP as he tears his membership card

Ogun - The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that former
President Olusegun Obasanjo has been expelled from the party, Punch reports. Obasanjo reportedly tore into shreds his People's
Democratic Party membership card in front of his party ward chairman at a press conference in Abeokuta on Monday.
The former president and party leader had recently accused President Goodluck Jonathan
of plotting to win the March 28 vote by "hook and crook" and planning to plunge the nation into crisis if he lost. President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday dismissed allegations.
And the dice keep rolling.

Drake disses Tyga comparing him to his under age girlfriend Kylie Jenner

It's a battle of the whiny b**ches!
Drake dropped a surprise mix tape yesterday ahead of his fourth studio album, due out later this year, and the rapper reignited his feud with Tyga by taking a swipe at his maturity and comparing him to his 17-year-old girlfriend Kylie Jenner. This is how the lyrics go .
" I heard a lil lil homie talking reckless in Vibe / Quite a platform you chose, you shoulda kept it inside / Oh you tried, it's so childish calling my name on the world stage/You need to act your age and not your girl's age, " he raps on his tune "6 pm in New York".
Tyga quickly responded to the diss on Twitter, but has since deleted his post. "u still a b*tch. All that sneak dissing is weak. Just pull up..."
he wrote.
.The Vibe interview Drizzy references in his insult was from back in October, but clearly the wound is still fresh. "I don't like Drake as a person.
He's just fake to me. I like his music; you know what I'm saying? I think his music is good, but we're all different people," Tyga sniped to the mag.
Is this Biggie vs. Tupac 2.0? We doubt it, since
these two are both all bark and no bite!

Former Plateau state Governor Joshua Dariye's Father Abducted

Joshua Dariye

Unknown gunmen on Saturday night kidnapped Dariye Defwang, the father of Senator Joshua Dariye, at Mushere, his village in Bokkos Local Government, Plateau State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the gunmen invaded the fenced area housing the former Plateau Governor’s family and started
shooting sporadically, which scared the villagers. One Adamu, Dariye’s relation, told NAN that “ the fear-stricken villagers scampered in all directions and initially thought the invaders were cow thieves, but unknown to us, they had a different mission.’’ According to him, the gunmen forcefully took away the old man to the main road where they dressed him up in female clothing before speeding off with him on a motorcycle. Unconfirmed sources claimed the kidnappers left a note in which they made their monetary demands to be paid in dollars.
They were also said to have left a contact number, but a family source said efforts to reach the line had not been successful as it had remained switched off.
Maj. Gen. Dave Enetie, the Commander, Special Task Force (STF) in charge of peace in Plateau, who confirmed the incident, said his men were combing everywhere for clues.
“We have reached out to security agents in Nasarawa and other neighbouring states. We have also linked up with the Directorate of Security Services (DSS) in Nasarawa and the search
lights are everywhere, but we are yet to trace the kidnappers or the victim,’’ he said.
He, however, said that the STF was not aware of any note left by the kidnappers.
The kidnapping of Defwang brings to three, major kidnapping incidents in Plateau, with the first
being the kidnap of Michael Obi, father of Chelsea FC midfielder, John Obi Mikel, in 2012. In January, gunmen also kidnapped a Lebanese, one Safi, an engineer handling the ongoing
rehabilitation works on Gindiri Dam in Mangu Local Government.

No going back in February 14 - jega

Prof Attahiru Jega, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has told his aides that he plans to inform the meeting of the Council of State that the Commission is fully prepared for the February 14, 2015
elections.
According to INEC sources who spoke to Sahara Reporters, Jega indicated that he also intended to brief the council on a few outstanding minor logistical issues which he said INEC would be able to take care of in the next week before February 14 when the election
is schedule to begin.
The chair of the electoral commission however expressed concern that the Nigerian armed forces, despite openly claiming to be fully prepared for the elections, had refused to meet with INEC to discuss specific roles that each of
them would play.
One source said that some INEC officials believe that the military’s uncooperative attitude arose from a scheme by President Goodluck Jonathan and his supporters to frustrate the elections.
They are suppose to meet to help safeguard electoral materials and distribute them across the nation.
As far back as October 2014, Sahara Reporters had disclosed that Jonathan was less interested in the elections than in the elongation of his tenure.
Jonathan called a meeting of Council of State to hold in Abuja on February 5. Sources said the President’s major agenda was to persuade former Nigerian leaders, some state governors and opposition figures to agree to the idea of postponing the elections for at least two months. The president’s main argument, according to those familiar with the scheme, is that INEC was ill-prepared to hold elections on February 14.
One source told SR that Jonathan had secured the support of former military dictator, Ibrahim
Babangida, for the postponement of the
elections. Babangida’s political legacy included
annulling the June 12, 1993 presidential polls,
an action that precipitated a major political crisis in Nigeria for several years.
The election had been described by local and foreign observers as freest and fairest.
Another source told SR that ex- President Olusegun Obasanjo plans to boycott the meeting of the Council of States. As at press time, we were unable to find out if Muhammed Buhari, the presidential candidate of the APC
plans to attend the council meeting.
An aide of Mr. Buhari’s said the presidential candidate would lead opposition governors to the council in order to fight against the extension. Should Jonathan succeed in postponing the election by two months, Jega would be approximately one month away from the end of his tenure, the President will send him on a terminal leave and bring in his replacement to conduct the election.
But SR has learnt that the President doesn’t
have any interest in conducting elections
instead he is interested in pushing for a two-year Interim Government of National Unity to be
headed by him. His aides are supposed to meet
with the National Leader of the APC, BolaTinubu to offer him the VP slot on the IGNU.
